Most of us live in a bubble or fantasy world, quickly buying into get-rich-quick schemes. If you want to make money online, you need to start by asking the right questions. Instead of asking, “What kind of business can I do to make money online?” You should focus on learning a skill.
As a dental hygienist with over a decade of clinical experience, I decided to venture into the online business world. I launched my small business selling electric toothbrushes, whitening pens, and floss. I also offer 1-hour smile enhancement treatments and sell premium LED toothbrushes that clean, polish, whiten, and provide gum care. But let me tell you, it wasn’t as easy as just putting my products online and waiting for the sales to roll in.
Even if you just want to sell products online, you still need to learn some basic marketing skills, sales techniques, or how to create content that can make a difference in someone’s life. The most important skill you need is writing. Trust me, I was once like this too (3 years ago). I wanted to make money online and assumed I could just create a product, put it online, and boom! The sales and money would roll in. I learned very quickly that this is not how life or business online works.
I realized that to succeed online, I needed to learn how to market my products effectively. I had to understand my target audience, create engaging content, and build a brand that resonates with my customers. I started by learning how to write compelling blog posts, social media content, and product descriptions. Writing became a crucial skill that helped me connect with my audience and convey the value of my products.
Learning a skill not only helps you grow your business but also allows you to help others. As a dental hygienist, I am passionate about educating my audience on oral hygiene. I use my skills to create informative content that addresses common misconceptions and provides valuable tips on maintaining oral health. This has helped me build trust with my audience and establish myself as an authority in my field.
So, if you’re looking to make money online, start by learning a skill. Help people with the skill you have learned, and grow that wonderful business idea you have been dreaming of. Remember, success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, effort, and a willingness to learn and adapt. But with the right skills and mindset, you can achieve your online business goals.
