Why toothbrushes? How did you come up with the idea of selling toothbrushes?

Well, I am a dental professional, and I think that there is always going to be a market for toothbrushes and oral hygiene products because there’s still room for improvement with what is currently available in the market right now.

First, every time I discuss improving oral hygiene at home with patients, the topic of brushing with an electric toothbrush as a better alternative to a manual toothbrush always comes up. Patients would ask “what electric toothbrush would you recommend? And every time, my answer remains the same “Oral-B or Philips Sonic Care”. Then I started thinking, what if I added another product on the list? What if I had my own toothbrush, a product designed based on my clinical experience which I could recommend to my patients as well.

Once I had this idea, I talked with the clinicians I work with because we all own at least one electric toothbrush. At first, I did not tell them I was coming up with my own line of electric toothbrush products. I basically asked everyone “if you were to design your own electric toothbrush, how would you make it different than what is available in the market? And what are your MUST have properties of any electric toothbrush”. I listened and wrote down everything they said. Next, I started asking my patients who already use an electric toothbrush what aspects they did not like about their current powered toothbrush, and what they wish their electric toothbrush would do better. Last, I did some online research on electric toothbrushes. Read a lot of clinical studies done on the effectiveness of electric toothbrushes. I read a lot of negative reviews on my competitors as well.

Bottom line is, I did a lot of reading and research online to decide on what kind of product I wanted to put out. The idea of launching my own electric toothbrush was not created in a day. I want my customers to know that a lot of thought and hard work went into this project. Thanks to the support of everyone I work with, a lot of prayers and enormous support from my husband, my kids, my warrior mom, family members and close friends, this project came to be.

My wish is to bring some degree of positive change to your oral health with this product and more dental products in the future. As a dental hygienist, it pleases me when I see individuals who make that effort to improve their oral care at home, I hope this product will do that for you.
